Smart India Hackathon 2020 is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of the pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem-solving.In SIH 2020, the students would have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within various Ministries, Departments, Industries, PSUs and NGOs to create world-class solutions for some of the top organizations including industries in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation.

Hackathons are an innovative proving ground for new ideas. They stimulate the creativity of participants and foster problem-solving and risk-taking in a casual environment. Smart India Hackathon Prelim Round was held in Mody University of Science and Technology, Lakshmangarh on 1st February 2020. 19 teams registered for the Prelim Round out of which 13 were shortlisted after the scrutiny round.

The event commenced with motivational words of Dr. A.Senthil, Head, Department of Computer Science and Technology, Mody University, Dr.Praneet Saurabh, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science, Mody University of Science and Technology Dr.Prateek Bhanti, Assistant Professor, Mody University and Dr.Sunil Kumar Jangir, SPOC SIH 2020, Mody University. Their words helped students to stay motivated and in getting more insights about the Smart India Hackathon. Then all the teams had a discussion with the mentors. We had a pool of mentors- Dr.Vinod Maan, Dr.Niranjan Lal, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Dr.Praneet Saurabh, Mr. Vinay Verma, and Mr. Vishal Sharma for guiding students and help them improve their ideas. Then after a short break, we began with our Judging Round. Dr.Sanjeev Jhakar, Dr.Manish Kumar and Dr.Dinkar Verma judged the ideas of teams on the basis of their Solution Approach, Criticality, Impact, Ambitiousness, Innovation, and Execution. 7 teams were nominated for Power Judging round, in which teams were scored on the basis of Presentation, Criticality, and Showcase. After the completion of power judging round top 5 teams with the highest score were shortlisted. Team Code Voyage and Tech Phantoms bagged the first position with the same score, team Webappers stood second and third position was again a tie between team Meraki and Annotators.

The whole event was co-ordinated by SPOC SIH 2020 Dr.Sunil Kumar Jangir, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering with the support and guidance of Management, Faculties, and Technical staff. This event could not be successful without the support of technical societies of Mody University of Science and Technology- IET Chapter, IEEE chapter and CSI chapter.
