Dr. Shastri, Dean of Law, Mody University addresses The National Seminar on Personal laws and Uniform Civil Code

Prof. Satish C. Shastri, Dean College of Law and Governance, was invited as a Chief Guest in the Valedictory function of a two-day seminar on ‘Personal laws and Uniform Civil Code’ organised by N.M. Law P.G. College, Hanumangarh on December 14, 2014.

On his arrival at the seminar, he was warmly welcome by Prof. Tayal, Principal of the host college. While addressing the Seminar, Prof. Shastri lent a new dimension to the debate over the adoption of Uniform Civil Code in the country as enshrined in Article 44 of the Constitution by reminding the audience that we already have a common criminal law in the form of IPC.

He also stated that the foundation of our country is based on secular ethos and it is in the interest of our social fabric to have common law for all the religion in personal matters.

The conference was also addressed by Prof. Jaswal and Dr. R.S.Solanki of the Mody University who spoke on Constitutionality of Uniform Civil Code and Law of surrogacy respectively.
