Workshop on Nano Science and Technology organised by School of Engineering

A two-day academic lecture workshop on “Recent trends in Nanoscience and Technology” was organised by the department of Nanoscience and Technology, School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Mody University of Science and Technology recently.

Speaking at the Seminar, Dean, SET, Dr. V.K Jain said that “It is a great honour to have all the great speakers under one roof and we are sure we would benefit a lot from this seminar. Nano technology plays an important part in everyday lives. If we see the applications of nano-science and technology in last 15 years it touches almost every aspect of our daily life; be it electronics, textiles, biomedical, healthcare, food and agriculture, renewal energy, etc.”

President of Mody University, while speaking at the inaugural function said, “Research, knowledge and new innovations are parts of higher education. We, at Mody University, make full efforts to understand these concepts and upgrade ourselves through our curriculum. We try to blend the classic and the new knowledge together and workshops like these make the students as well as the faculty members up-to-date with the latest technologies.”

The lecture workshop was sponsored by Indian Academy of Science, Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi & National Academy of Science, Allahabad.
Professor Ashok K Ganguli, FASc FNASc, Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi was the Convener of the workshop. Other eminent speakers includes Prof. Navakanta Bhat, Cense, IISc, Bangalore, Prof. Veena Koul, IIT Delhi, Prof. Amitava Patra, IACS, Kolkata, and Dr. Praveen Kumar Vemula, NCBS, Bangalore.

The workshop was attended by over 200 participants from all over Rajasthan. Eminent resource persons from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, National Centre for Biological Science, Bangalore, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Indian Association Cultivation of Science, Kolkata working in the field of Nano science & Technology delivered lectures during the workshop.

Professor Amlan Das faculty in the Department of Nano-Science and Technology, SET said who is also the convener of the worshop said , “The workshop is aimed for awareness programme of Nano Science and Engineering and its application in various societal problems of day-to-day life. It is specially designed to benefit students and teachers at post graduate, graduate and under-graduate programmes and have useful relevance to the curriculum covered at the research level as well.
