Somewhere she is being worshiped as Durga or Laxmi, and somewhere she is being tortured even getting killed inside the mother’s womb. Sometimes as a daughter, sometimes as a wife, she plays different roles to make better the world around her, in returns she get nothing, not even proper respect. Faculty of Arts, Science and Commerce of Mody University of Science and Technology organized an event to give a message to change the vision about women, on ‘International Women’s Day’, on March 8, 2014.
The theme of the day was ‘Equality for Women is Progress for All’. The event was inaugurated by Prof. Sunil Jakhoria, Dean of FASC. Dr. Anil K.S. Jha delivered a Special Lecture on ‘Darkness at Noon: Declining Child Sex Ratio in India’. He discussed about how the girl child ratio is going down than boy child. He took an attempt to make everybody aware about the subject and motivate them to stop this. Because a girl can enlighten your world too.
The dept. organized a Poster Competition on the theme ‘Women and Development: Changes and Challenges’ to let loose the creativity of the students. Mr. Simranjeet Kour Sodhi of B.A. LL.B 1st Year won the Best Poster Award and second prize was shared by Ms. Ruchi Purohit, Ms. Pragya Sharma and Ms. Monika Singh of B. Sc. 2nd Year. Students enacted two Skits on the themes ‘Domestic Violence’ and ‘Save the Girl Child’ for highlighting the issues related to gender equality and a reality in which women are discriminated. They showed their emotions and thought on the issues like this.
This University was established with an oath to being an efficient platform for women with quality education; to make them feel that they are not at all less than boys in any field. The University motivate the students and tell them that they are ‘Woman’, the base of the world, they are powerful, they can achieve anything they want, the university is there to.
